Beyond The Wedding Cake

As time goes on, traditions are changing.  More and more, 4-tiered wedding cake is becoming a thing of the past.  This is not saying that wedding cakes are being forgotten all together, but other dessert options are becoming wildly more popular.

One trend on the rise is having cupcakes at your wedding.  Here at The Boulder Country Club, we saw plenty of cupcake displays at our weddings this past year.  Having cupcakes for all your guests tends to be less expensive than a large cake.  Still, the top-tier on a wedding cake is very important to the bride and groom.  It is tradition to keep the top-tier for one whole year and enjoy it together on your one year anniversary.  You can still keep that tradition and not have an entire cake.  Below is an example of what one of our couples did for their cake/cupcake display last winter.

Another popular trend is to have a dessert and/or candy buffet.  You can match the colors of your candy and dessert to your theme and wedding colors.  It is a fun and creative way to present the dessert to your guests.

Having a traditional wedding cake is still such a great option.  Keep in mind, these are just a few wedding dessert trends that are becoming more popular.  Whatever you decide to do, make sure that it is something that you love and is unique to you and your wedding.
